Cultural and Eno-Gastronomic Tour Of The Most Beautiful Parts Of Italy

Garda Trentino And The Island Of Sardinia - The First Official Blue Zone!

Dates: Departing September 15, Returning September 30, 2023

TRIP OVERVIEW   Join us for this exclusive tour to the multi-faceted regions of Trentino and Sardinia. This year’s tour is led by Sardinian-born wine and culinary expert Rodolfo Meloni, who will take you to the eno-gastronomical paradises of Trentino and southern Sardinia.
1
WEEK 1 - THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF TRENTINO
Trentino is a northern region in Italy with beautiful mountains, lakes and specific northern culture. This area looks and feels like nowhere else in Italy! It’s just such a special place to have a great time exploring. Then there’s Lake Garda – home to some amazing sights and a spot that attracts many visitors, and Italians alike. Lake Garda is much bigger than people think, and actually spans multiple regions in Italy – one of which is Trentino, in the north.
2
WEEK 2 - THE MEDITERRANEAN ISLAND OF SARDINIA
Next we head to Sardinia with its astonishingly beautiful and pristine beaches, fabulously fresh food and unique culture. Founded by the Phoenicians then ruled by the Romans (except the center part of the island), and then by the Spaniards for 500 years, it was later annexed by France with the Savoy Kingdom. It really could be considered its own country, given its tremendous diversity.    In the last 10 years Sardinia was designated the first official Blue Zone - meaning the island has a unique ecosystem where the life expectancy is the highest in the world. Between the natural beauty of the land, sea and people, it makes for a destination not to be missed!   DETAILS OF TRIP Food, Wine and Cultural Tour at the foot of the Alps   Upon arriving in Verona airport we will continue by chartered bus to our four star hotel in the town of Riva del Garda, Trentino located a stone’s throw away from the lakeshore.   Then we head to Trentino which is situated in the very north of Italy, bordering Austria and Switzerland. It is best known for the beauty of its mountains, so of the most striking in Europe.   Trentino has a wide variety of landscapes ranging from magnificent snow-capped mountaintops, to woods, wide valleys, streams, and lakes. The enchanting play of light between the quaint villages against the backdrop of the Alps is breathtaking.    Hundreds of miles of ski slopes make this region a cutting-edge tourist destination – Madonna di Campiglio, Canazei, Moena, San Martino di Castrozza are the best known resorts, popular both in winter and summer for their natural surroundings, sport activities, and fun. The landscape of Lake Garda is particularly picturesque, with its narrows in Trentino, appearing as a fiord between the high mountains.   A land bridging the Latin and Nordic worlds, Trentino Alto is the guardian of a remarkable cultural heritage, with a variety of prehistoric artifacts, charming castles, sanctuaries, and towns with great historical and artistic significance. While on this tour, you will enjoy typical local dishes and extraordinary local wines, surrounded by the unique landscapes of this region.   In Riva del Garda, as per our previous tours, we will visit various sites and attend 3 to 4 wine tastings. At the end of each we will experience a lavish four 4 courses dinner in one of the many Riva del Garda restaurants.   If people are interested in an excursion to Venice or Verona it can be arranged. During our stay in Riva del Garda we will also visit FranciaCorta, a well known area for wine lovers, but still unknown to many.   Exploring the Magical Island of Sardinia    On Sept, 23rd we will depart from the Verona airport to take the 90 minute flight to Cagliari, the capital city of Sardinia (flight is included in cost). With our chartered bus you will be transported to the 4 star hotel located 30 Km from the capital, near Nora, a 3,000 year old city built by the Carthaginians. After winning the Punic Wars, Romans began to colonize Punic cities, and Nora was one of those.
